WHY CORNERSTONE 1131 EXISTS

A search for truth.
A call to serve.

I created Cornerstone 1131 because I believe people are searching for something deeper than information.

A PERSONAL MISSION

We live in a time when knowledge is everywhere, yet many people still struggle with questions of meaning, purpose, faith, identity, suffering, responsibility, and hope. I have often found myself asking those same questions.

For me, faith is not about avoiding difficult questions. It is about having the courage to face them.

Cornerstone 1131 was created as a place where faith, reason, science, history, and human experience can be considered together. I do not believe that truth should be afraid of investigation. If something is true, it should be able to stand up to sincere examination.

THE FOUNDATION

What are we building our lives upon?

My foundation is the Judeo-Christian faith, and the name Cornerstone comes from the biblical image found in 1 Peter 2:6. A cornerstone gives alignment and strength to everything built upon it.

That image has become very important to me.

“What are we building our lives upon?”

Every person has a foundation, whether we recognize it or not. We build our lives upon beliefs about what is true, what is valuable, what gives life meaning, and how we should treat one another.

Cornerstone 1131 is my attempt to explore those foundations openly and honestly.

HOW I WANT TO APPROACH THE SEARCH

Faith without fear.
Inquiry without contempt.

I do not expect everyone who visits this site to believe exactly what I believe. That is not the purpose.

I want this to be a place where people can ask serious questions without being dismissed, where faith can be examined without fear, and where science and reason are treated as valuable tools in the search for truth.

I also believe that faith should produce something useful in the world.

It should lead us toward compassion, humility, responsibility, service, and a greater concern for the well-being of others.

SERVICE TO THE HUMAN CONDITION

Ideas should become useful.

My hope is that Cornerstone 1131 will eventually become more than a collection of ideas. I want it to provide information, encouragement, thoughtful discussion, and practical resources that can help people live with greater purpose and help strengthen the communities around them.

01

What gives human life value?

02

How should we respond to suffering?

03

What responsibilities do we have toward one another?

04

Can faith and scientific discovery strengthen rather than oppose one another?

05

What can Scripture, history, and human experience teach us about living wisely?

06

How can what we learn be used to improve the human condition?

THE SEARCH ITSELF

I do not claim to have every answer.

Part of the purpose of Cornerstone 1131 is the search itself.

I want to listen, study, question, learn, and share what I discover along the way. Where evidence is strong, I want to acknowledge it. Where questions remain unanswered, I want to be honest about that as well.

Above all, I want this work to be useful.

If Cornerstone 1131 can help someone think more deeply, rediscover hope, strengthen their faith, question an assumption, understand another person, or find a meaningful way to serve someone else, then it will be accomplishing what I created it to do.

THE MISSION

To seek truth with humility.

To explore faith with courage.

To encourage thoughtful inquiry.

To recognize the dignity of every human being.

And to use what I learn in service of a better human condition.

That is the mission of Cornerstone 1131.
