Cornerstone 1131 began with a simple conviction: faith and honest inquiry do not have to be enemies.

I believe the search for truth can be an act of faith. Scripture gives us a foundation, but it does not ask us to stop thinking. It invites us to remember, to discern, to seek wisdom, to examine what is true, and to live differently because of what we discover.

That is why this work will not be limited to one kind of question. We will look at the biblical text, the history surrounding it, the discoveries of science, the arguments of philosophy, and the realities of human experience. None of these areas answers every question by itself. Together, however, they can sharpen our understanding and expose assumptions we may not realize we carry.

“Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious…”1 Peter 2:6

The cornerstone is a fitting image for this project. A cornerstone gives orientation. It does not remove the labor of building; it makes faithful building possible. For Cornerstone 1131, that foundation is the conviction that truth is real, God is worthy of our whole mind as well as our heart, and what we believe should lead us toward greater love, wisdom, responsibility, and service.

Why a journal?

Some questions need more room than a homepage can give them. A journal allows ideas to develop carefully. It creates space to ask difficult questions without rushing to easy answers, and to revisit a subject when new evidence or deeper reflection requires it.

My hope is that these reflections will be useful to people who believe, people who are uncertain, and people who simply want to understand. The purpose is not argument for its own sake. It is to pursue understanding in a way that can strengthen faith, clarify thought, and contribute to the human good.

The invitation

Bring your questions. Bring your skepticism. Bring your faith. Bring the things that do not fit neatly together yet.

Cornerstone 1131 is an attempt to build carefully—one question, one reflection, and one honest encounter with truth at a time.
